E-Math: How To Multiply Matrix (Know Your Rs & Cs)

Another important Tip for students taking GCE O Level Elementary Mathe (E-Math):

Unlike multiplication of numbers, multiplication of matrix requires some prep work.

  1. First, you have to check the feasibility of the 2 Matrices which you are multiplying together. You must know the order of each matrix i.e Number of Rows x Number of Columns (I always call it RC, Resident Committee, Remote Control etc...)
  2. Next, you have to know the order of your answer before you go ahead and find the answers.

I am using the following question to illustrate How To Multiply Matrix step by step.

E-Math: Order of Matrix

Another Tip for students taking GCE O Level Elementary Math (E-Math):

Though order of Matrix is a rather small part of the chapter, it is still essential that you know how to list down the order of any matrix which will be used in operation of matrix.(Especially multiplication of matrix)

In this post, I will provide some tips on how to list down the order of any matrix which is the Number of Rows x Number of Columns.

E-Math: 5 Features of Box and Whisker Plot You Must Know

Link to what was previously discussed in Statistics (an Elementary Math E-Math topic) in Drawing & Understanding of Cumulative Frequency, here are the 5 features for a Box & Whisker Plot (I guess you would know which part represents the box, and the portion which are the whiskers)

  1. Minimum
  2. Lower Quartile, Q1
  3. Median
  4. Higher Quartile, Q3
  5. Maximum

Note the difference between these 2 terms:

Range = Max - Min
Interquartile Range (IQR) = Q3 - Q1

E-Math: Drawing and Understanding of Cumulative Frequency Curve (Step by step working included)

Let's use this question to discuss on drawing and using cumulative frequency curve.

(a) Drawing of cumulative freq curve

Step by step solutions:

Notes:

140 pupils weigh 72.5 kg or less. So if you are interested to find out the number of pupils who weigh more than 72.5 kg. It will be 280 (total number of pupils) - 140 = 140 pupils.

Special attention to (iii) no. of students who weigh more than 65kg. By going UP & ACROSS, we get 20 students. This only means 20 students weigh 65 kg or less. So the rest (280 - 20 = 260) will weigh more than 65 kg

In my next post, I will be discussing the features of box and whisker plot.

O level A-Math Essential Concepts Workshop Student's Feedback [Including Parent's Comment]

Dear Ms. Ling,
Thank you so much for the photos and looking forward to the work she has done for the past 4 days.
I'm very contented that she has learnt alot from this workshop and my money is worth it. Appreciate you help in motivating and making A-Maths a joyful and interesting workshop for my kid.

Tks, Shoba (Parent of Devyaah)

“I have benefitted a lot from this workshop. Ai Ling has put across alot of different and creative ways to make us understand the complex concepts in A-Maths and make it easier to remember the various formulas. I haven't been getting good results in my school exams but through this workshop, I had learnt the common mistakes I always make and had understood the concepts better. I will really recommend the workshop to my classmates as I think it has been really beneficial for me. Thank You (=”

Nurul Arinie, Regent Sec Sch

“I like this workshop very much, I really learnt alot!! I like the way you teach I can understand easily, the story makes us remember the most and all the different types of methods you used to teach us I love them. I will remember it forever. The music make me feel like the environment is good for learning and it prevented me from getting too stressed up. I like the way you help me to recap yesterday's things and your method of teaching us is so special. Thank you!!"

Jonas Tan, Regent Sec Sch

“I came into this course thinking that I wouldn't learn much but I was wrong. I've learnt alot more than I imagined I could in four days. I would definitely recommend this to others. I have learnt a great deal and it definitely has helped me a lot. I've not been for other programmes so I wouldn't know how to compare but this definitely is one to remember. Thank you for the assistance you have given me for the past 4 days. I'll continue to look at A-Math in a new perspective. Thank you for your 100% attention towards us to improve our A-Math”
