Sing Along! :)
Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I’ll be mine,
And we’ll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wander’d monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl’d in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

Jobs galore for students this holiday season
14 Comments | Posted by alwaysLovely in Press Releases
BENJAMIN Heng landed his dream vacation job last month. He was paid to play some of the latest video games to hit town.As a ‘game marshal’ hired to promote Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console, the 20-year-old gave ‘live’ demonstrations at shopping malls, earning about $600 for eight days of work.
‘Obviously, being able to play video games on the job is cool,’ said Mr Heng, who has just completed national service and is waiting to enter the Singapore Management University.
‘But I’m also interested in business, and this is an opportunity for me to broaden my horizons by seeing how big companies push their sales.’
With consumer buying at a peak this festive season, companies are again turning to students on vacation to beef up staff levels.

California endorses S’pore maths textbook
0 Comments | Posted by alwaysLovely in Cool stuff, Press Releases, about singaporeolevelmaths
STUDENTS in California could soon be learning maths the Singapore way.The most populous state in the United States has endorsed the use of made-in-Singapore maths textbooks in some 5,700 elementary schools there. This means schools can tap into state funds to buy these textbooks, the first Asian content to be approved for use in schools in the US.
‘This has potential beyond California, as a lot of states base their standards on California,’ said Mr Jeffery Thomas, founder of SingaporeMath.com, which distributes Singapore textbooks.
Two series, one for kindergarten and the other for Grades 1 to 5, equivalent to Primary 1 to 5 here, have been approved for use by California’s board of education.
The primary series is adapted from the Primary Mathematics Project (3rd edition), first published by Singapore’s Ministry of Education and publisher Marshall Cavendish in 1982. (more…)

How to choose an effective tutor or tuition centre for O Level Students
1 Comment | Posted by alwaysLovely in Tuition | Coaching Matters
As I was flipping through the papers, there are many advertisements on effective tutors, results, improvements guaranteed, school teachers, scholars etc…
Personally, I think with so many choices available, it is certainly not easy for students and parents to find one which will match their expectations.
I met up with a parent recently whom in fact shared with me on the centre she has enrolled her girl with. I was shocked to find out that the class has a total of 7 students of DIFFERENT levels (eg, there is a mixture of Sec 1 to Sec 4s) all taken part by a tutor. Moreover, the fees charged by this tutor is more than the average price of a group class. Well, this parent mentions that she is testing it out and sees how her girl progresses.
In my personal opinion, the following factors are important for the selection of the right tutor/coach for your learning needs:
