To all my dearest readers:

Sing Along! :)

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

California endorses S'pore maths textbook

STUDENTS in California could soon be learning maths the Singapore way.The most populous state in the United States has endorsed the use of made-in-Singapore maths textbooks in some 5,700 elementary schools there. This means schools can tap into state funds to buy these textbooks, the first Asian content to be approved for use in schools in the US.

'This has potential beyond California, as a lot of states base their standards on California,' said Mr Jeffery Thomas, founder of SingaporeMath.com, which distributes Singapore textbooks.

Two series, one for kindergarten and the other for Grades 1 to 5, equivalent to Primary 1 to 5 here, have been approved for use by California's board of education.

The primary series is adapted from the Primary Mathematics Project (3rd edition), first published by Singapore's Ministry of Education and publisher Marshall Cavendish in 1982. [Read more...] about California endorses S'pore maths textbook

How to choose an effective tutor or tuition centre for O Level Students

As I was flipping through the papers, there are many advertisements on effective tutors, results, improvements guaranteed, school teachers, scholars etc...

Personally, I think with so many choices available, it is certainly not easy for students and parents to find one which will match their expectations.

I met up with a parent recently whom in fact shared with me on the centre she has enrolled her girl with. I was shocked to find out that the class has a total of 7 students of DIFFERENT levels (eg, there is a mixture of Sec 1 to Sec 4s) all taken part by a tutor. Moreover, the fees charged by this tutor is more than the average price of a group class. Well, this parent mentions that she is testing it out and sees how her girl progresses.

In my personal opinion, the following factors are important for the selection of the right tutor/coach for your learning needs:

I wonder if anyone can answer my wonder

Hello Universe,

Here I'm sitting in front of my laptop, typing my entry of the day. There's always this question that bugs me, who is exactly reading my entries on my site. It seems like readers on my site are the "quiet" kind? Well, make some noise!!! Afterall, Santa is coming to town!

I was surfing google on "How to get more comments on blog?" and I saw something written by the author "Only 1 out of 100 readers leave comments!" It seems to be accurate as I sent out an email recently to hundreds of my subscribers for their thoughts and comments after they have received the "Be a Squaring Expert within 30 seconds" strategy. Get yours here if you don't know what I'm talking about
