Start of School Holidays!

Secondary school students have already enjoy close to 1 month of holidays while primary school students just have their fun beginning.

I was talking to a parent recently and I realize how much autonomy MOE schools have nowadays. They can decide when to start holidays, when not to have classes.

Education system is opening up, recently there was a report on home schooling in Singapore which is something really popular in US.

E-Maths Note : Algebraic Expansion

This is a topic some of which is learnt ever since Primary 6.

Through my years of coaching, I notice quite a handful of students form blocks when they dealt with this topic that starts with "A" and ends with "a".

Haha! Yes! It's Alegbra! I was introduced of this thing in Primary 6. It was the ONLY method my dad taught me to solve word problems then. I didn't understand what he was telling me.... totally huh? huh? huh?

Well, I am glad I figure out the x-es & y-es eventually. Many students tend to see algebra to be abstract. In fact, it can be explained in terms of apples, oranges, pears .... ( This is my ONLY drawing subject- basic fruits) Those who have the "good fortune" will know the level of drawing :-)

E-Maths Note: Quadratic Equations & Graphs

3 Different representations of a quadratic equation & its significance

 : typical quadratic equation : Max/Min & instant answer to y-intercept
: Completed Squ form : Great for solving equation

: Instant answer to x-intercepts aka roots

Since we are on this topic of quadratic, one of the most important aspects is quadratic graphs.
There is a software which I use often for plotting of all sorts of graphs!
Yes, what you need to do is to "feed" the software with the equation of the graph that you intend to plot!

Sec 2s Promoting to Sec 3s

Hello World,

I believe most of the students have received your streaming outcome. I certainly hope that you have gotten the subject combination that you have chosen.

The other day I was at Brass Basah Complex, Popular Bookstore. I was shocked to find that Popular has already stocked up with all the textbooks and parents are already armed with the booklist, doing the purchases for their children. I guess for you folks, you are doing your own purchase since you all afterall are youths :)
