Completion of December Holidays Mastery Workshops

Yesterday marked the end of 3 weeks of holidays Mastery Workshops for Secondary 3, 4 and IP students.
Though I was exhausted, it was fun and exciting as I got to meet new faces and shared with them my strategies for them to understand abstract concepts clearer and be more confident.

The following workshops are conducted:

  • E-Math Algebra understanding Quadratic
  • E-Math Trigonometry
  • A-Math Logarithms & Linear Law
  • A-Math Trigonometry I & II
  • (Check out the photos at the end of this post) [Read more...] about Completion of December Holidays Mastery Workshops

    'O' levels & Sec 3 Math & Chemistry Holiday Programmes 2010 (Revision & Headstart)

UPDATE: Early Bird registration is extended to 6 Dec 09, 2359 hours (Singapore time)

Most Secondary two students would have received your streaming results, stating the subject combinations for Sec 3 for year 2010, haven't you?
I hope you like the combination as you are going to eat, sleep and breathe those subjects.
For Secondary three students, I hope most if not all of you have been promoted to Sec 4. Pat yourself if you have done well. If you haven't done well, what are you going to do this holiday?
Regardless if you are Sec three or 'O' level students next year, are you ready to rock & roll?

    We are excited for 2010!

You don't have to do everything during this holidays, you just need to do 1 - 2 right things while enjoying your break. I'm not even talking about doing your holiday assignments.

    • If your concepts aren't great, build them up by re-learning them!
    • If you aren't practicing enough, start working on sums, doing your five/ten years series!
    • If you hate the subject or have no interest, use this holiday to decide if you are intending to continue or give up, find time sit down and read about the subject, get a friend to explain the annoying concepts to you

“The moment you say 'I know everything' is the end of your growth.”

If you like to experience learning with a difference, spend your holidays more meaningfully, enrich yourself in these 'O' level Math or Chemistry, we would like to extend the invitation to join us at our December Holiday Mastery Workshops & Essential Concepts Revision Programme!

Parents Beware! (My Response to Today Papers on 'PSLE Tuition Ad')

It's holidays! Well at least for a big group of students. I know there are still another group who are sitting for their 'O', 'A' levels! Gambatte! (Japan phase for 'Go for it', 'Try your best!)

Students are busy planning their activities while parents are also busy planning! But planning activities (holiday courses, revision classes, registration for tuition classes for 2010, overseas holidays...) for their kids!

So I thought it's a suitable time for me to share an article I wrote to TODAY.

Last week in Today Papers, there was a big article on 'PSLE Tuition Ad' which claims to have SEAB (Singapore Examination & Assessment Board) setters conducting intensive revision programmes for PSLE and 'O' levels.

Below is the exact article I have written (unpublished as of now): [Read more...] about Parents Beware! (My Response to Today Papers on 'PSLE Tuition Ad')

    "Thank You!"

I just want to shout a big "Thank You!" for a special group of students who have spent their 2009 with me and my company, Winners Education Group.

Participants from June Intensive Revision Programme, Ultimate Leap Programme, E-Math Revision Programme, Trigonometry Mastery Workshop, Differentiation & Integration Mastery Workshop, my individual coaching students, Final Leap Programme and certainly not forgetting all my singaporeolevelmaths.com subscribers consisting of Singapore and International readers who are students, parents and educators.

All the best for your 'O' levels, 'iGCSE', IP and major exams!

PS: 'O' levels 2010 Holiday + 2010 Coaching programme details will be released in early Nov.

Also, singaporeolevelmaths.com will be revamping into a 'cleaner' look for easy navigation and reading. Look out for the new change at end of Oct! To leave some feedback on the design of website, go to comments section and speak your mind.

2 Weeks away from 'O' level: Should I Be Doing Ten Year Series or School Prelims Papers?

I have been asked this question so much recently that I think it will benefit more students by writing a post here.

"Should I Be Doing Ten Year Series or School Prelims Papers? "

    My personal recommendation is that

    • If you are generally good in a certain topic, then work on the school prelim papers (most schools pump students with piles and piles). By doing so, you are gaining exposure to more variety of questions.
    • However, if you are still weak in certain topics, please go to your Ten Year Series to build up your foundation and master the basics first.

You know as well as I do that most school prelim papers are pitched at a standard which is higher than 'O' levels and this is the main reason for me suggesting prelim papers for exposure not fundamentals building.

Note: As 4016 (E-Math) & 4038 (A-Math) are relatively new (only available last year 2008), some topics in the Ten Years Series are lacking on questions. These are the newly introduced topics:

    A-Math

    1. Inverse Matrix
    2. Sum & Product of Roots
    3. Partial Fractions
    4. Curves & Circles
    5. Plane Geometry (also known as Geometrical Proof)
    6. Further Trigonometric Identities (Addition, Double Angle, Factor & R - Formula)
    7. Integration involving partial fractions, trigonometry involving double angle

    E-Math

    1. Matrix word problems and basic operations
    2. Set language and notation
    3. Statistics involving dot diagrams, stem and leaf, box and whisker, calculation of mean and standard deviation
    4. Applications of mathematics in practical situations (hire purchase, compound interest, money exchange, profit/loss, taxation)

I would suggest you use school prelim questions as a form of practice for the above topics.

I would love to hear from you on how you are preparing for the upcoming 'O' level Mathematics papers. Leave your comments below.
