Most Secondary two students would have received your streaming results, stating the subject combinations for Sec 3 for year 2010, haven’t you?
I hope you like the combination as you are going to eat, sleep and breathe those subjects.
For Secondary three students, I hope most if not all of you have been promoted to Sec 4. Pat yourself if you have done well. If you haven’t done well, what are you going to do this holiday?
Regardless if you are Sec three or ‘O’ level students next year, are you ready to rock & roll?

We are excited for 2010!

You don’t have to do everything during this holidays, you just need to do 1 – 2 right things while enjoying your break. I’m not even talking about doing your holiday assignments.

  • If your concepts aren’t great, build them up by re-learning them!
  • If you aren’t practicing enough, start working on sums, doing your five/ten years series!
  • If you hate the subject or have no interest, use this holiday to decide if you are intending to continue or give up, find time sit down and read about the subject, get a friend to explain the annoying concepts to you

“The moment you say ‘I know everything’ is the end of your growth.”

If you like to experience learning with a difference, spend your holidays more meaningfully, enrich yourself in these ‘O’ level Math or Chemistry, we would like to extend the invitation to join us at our December Holiday Mastery Workshops & Essential Concepts Revision Programme!

If you are Secondary 3/4 student or RGS/RI/RVHS/Dunman High/NYGH/HCI/ACSI (or any other IP students), read on.

If right now, you are

  • not understanding what is taught in school.
  • losing momentum.
  • not having any interest or motivation in A-Math or Chemistry.
  • totally lost during lesson.
  • consoling yourself that things will get better eventually (without no actions taken)

AND

  • You want to do better because you deserve it.
  • You want to improve because you can’t stand others looking down at you, adults’ nagging at you …
  • You want to prove it to the rest of the world that you can do it.
  • You want to get bettter grades so that you want more choices after your O levels/IP programmes.

All these will not be possible UNLESS … …

You start taking action NOW instead of waiting (Perhaps you can manage on your own? Wait for common test results and see how?)

Major Misconceptions:

  • I can study the last minute for my Os … (2-4 years of work for 6-9 subjects cramped in 1-2 months?) What happens when it backfires?
  • There is still much time left for preparation of examinations. Is 8 months and counting down a long time?
  • Teachers in school will give us extra lessons. You wouldn’t want to wait till then. Start now & be consistent.
  • O level examinations are much easier to score. What does it show when you consistently do not perform well in tests?

Just like pulling up of weeds, a gardener has to pull up the unwanted, useless plants consistently so that the crops are growing healthier in a plot of fertile soil. Imagine what happens when the gardener loses the momentum in maintaining the plot of land. Weeds are everywhere, overshadowing the crops which will eventually die off due to lack of essentials.

You are just like the gardener taking care of the plot of land by growing perhaps 6 – 9 different crops (Subjects). Weeds are your doubts, if unclear, they pile up till they overwhelmed you!

Clear your weeds consistently & be a happy gardener harvesting your returns in the end.

First of all, I have to apologised to all my dear readers of my recent MIA (Missing In Action) on this blog.

For those students in Singapore, I hope most of you have enjoyed your 1 week break,re-charge & ready for Term 2! It’s going to be a short term with Mid Year Exams upcoming. Haha… I know I know it’s mean to remind you all of the exams when the holidays aren’t even over yet.

I was away from blogging on more Math Tips as I am focusing on my energy with a few students on subdue-ing the Top Rated Killer A-Math Topics : Logarithms & Trigonometry! It was really intensive for the 3 days but everything was worthwhile.

I learnt lots! Yes I learnt as well. I learn more about how students approach the topics, their challenges, their life! Oh yeah, I also learnt that my students like to play Dai-Di ( A poker card game) in school! (more…)

Many a times, I tell people that I am a Maths Coach. They will like huh? Maths Coach? You mean tutor?

I am more than a tutor. Though coach is often used in Sports context, I still use it for my designation due to what I provide students.

I not only impart the technical know-hows through real life examples, I also get my dearest students to associate the life skills behind what they are learning. This has proven to be more meaningful for them and this is one of the reasons for students to have breakthroughs in their results.
