Most Secondary two students would have received your streaming results, stating the subject combinations for Sec 3 for year 2010, haven’t you?
I hope you like the combination as you are going to eat, sleep and breathe those subjects.
For Secondary three students, I hope most if not all of you have been promoted to Sec 4. Pat yourself if you have done well. If you haven’t done well, what are you going to do this holiday?
Regardless if you are Sec three or ‘O’ level students next year, are you ready to rock & roll?
We are excited for 2010!
You don’t have to do everything during this holidays, you just need to do 1 – 2 right things while enjoying your break. I’m not even talking about doing your holiday assignments.
- If your concepts aren’t great, build them up by re-learning them!
- If you aren’t practicing enough, start working on sums, doing your five/ten years series!
- If you hate the subject or have no interest, use this holiday to decide if you are intending to continue or give up, find time sit down and read about the subject, get a friend to explain the annoying concepts to you
“The moment you say ‘I know everything’ is the end of your growth.”
If you like to experience learning with a difference, spend your holidays more meaningfully, enrich yourself in these ‘O’ level Math or Chemistry, we would like to extend the invitation to join us at our December Holiday Mastery Workshops & Essential Concepts Revision Programme!

How Do You “Study” For Math?
2 Comments | Posted by alwaysLovely in Learning Tools, scorers mindset
With ‘O’ level just right in the face, I just received an email asking me how to study for Math.
In fact, when you do a search on this site, you would have noticed I have written a few posts on “studying” for Math. Here are some of the posts I have done:
- How to prepare for Math Common Test
- This “C” word, the secret weapon that allows this student to enjoy exams.
- Kept getting F9s for all A-Math exams
This time, instead of providing an answer to this question, I will be interested to know how you study for Math. Go ahead and leave your studying skills in the comment section.
I look forward to your reply.

Top Revision Strategy I Use On My Students To Help Them Score!
With time being the main concern for revision. When my students complete the basic concepts understanding, it is time for them to really put what they have learnt to application.
Are there times where they are unable to do the questions? Absolutely. Especially so when they just completed the fundamental understanding of the subject. That is where being a Coach, I come into the picture to guide them through simply by asking and asking so that they can think on their own answers through the questions asked. I strongly emphasize on this as isn’t this the thinking process you need to go through in the examination hall while doing the paper?
Now, I am also very encouraging as everyone need praises for every little action you have taken! Cheers!
Now is the time where most schools are generously presenting their students with the loads of papers to work on. It is unrealistics to complete ALL the papers especially the flow of the exam papers are endless. So what I get my students to do is to write down the steps for topics which they are very confident in and for topics which they are still not that great yet, step by step solutions are then required.
Based on the poll I have conducted on this website on your bottom right hand side, one of the biggest challenges in learning of Math is that :
This is proven effective revision method for all my students so far; time effective & optimial learning strategy, so I strongly suggest if you are a student, use this method and test it out. Please remember in order to effectively benefit from this way of revision, you need to totally clear on your basic concepts. Yes BASIC CONCEPTS.
Allow me to show you an example on Sum & Product of Roots question:

I Am Really Excited About This Online MindMap Tool!
1 Comment | Posted by alwaysLovely in Cool stuff, Learning Tools
When I first chanced upon it, I was absolutely blown away!
When I used it, I was totally amazed!
MindMapping has been a tool which I used it often and encourage students and everyone else to use it for getting ideas, organizing thoughts, planning… basically everything. I read quite a number of books on mindmapping published by renowned authors like Tony Buzan and a list of other in this field.
One of the stopping factors which used to stop me from creating my mindmaps was that I cannot draw. Students who have seen my “drawing” know that I am best at drawing lines and curves. My drawing subjects usually involved less than 5 lines/curves. LOL. I know.
When I saw this online mindmap, it is totally a gift from universal for me. I strongly everyone is used it. There’s a free trial for 30 days for you to evaluate if this is the tool for you.
By the way, I do not recommend anything unless I have personally used and tested it to be effective.
