F-r-e-e GCE O Level Mathematics Exam Questions Papers For Download?Just Buy A Copy In BookStores

I thought  I should say a little more with relation to the earlier article I wrote on How To Create Math PowerNotes For Revision of Tests & Exams

Now, you can easily get access to Cambridge GCE O Level Elementary or Additional Maths exam questions .

For those in Singapore, just head towards any of the major bookstore to get a copy. A copy is usually less than $10. And you can use it for Sec 3 & 4 ( otherwise known as Grade 9 or 10). Buy a copy here.

Yes. It is compulsory to finish the what we called it the Ten Years Series as it consists of usually 10 years of exam questions. Some students do it several times again and again too.

If you find that you have totally done and understood everything in the Ten Years Series. You may get other schools exam papers to work on which are definitely more exciting and thus burnt more calories in the process. ;)

Personally, I suggest you to just get a copy of the Ten Years Series and Get Into Action Consistently!  GCE O-Level questions are not available for free due to copyright of Cambridge.

All the best!

7 more months to go!

How To Create Math PowerNotes For Revision of Tests & Exams

I was looking at some of the ways readers found this website and one of the search terms was f*ree gce o level math notes and exam questions.

Well, personally during my school life, I was "spoonfed" with lots of notes! Gosh, I wonder how many trees we have to sacrifice for this. Of all those notes, the irony is that I realize those which I have added on my "personal touch" in terms of my own sidenotes, post-it-notes, tea-stains and perhaps sometimes, the faint residue of saliva mark LOL....these are the notes which have proven to be very effective in helping me to learn well and score in exams.

Now, my point is that ALL students should have your own set of notes. Something that is unique to yourself only and not just notes you get from your teachers, tutors, guidebooks etc... I am not saying that these notes are not good, in fact many have excellent content and structure but as each of us is unique in your own learning styles and patterns. I strongly encourage and urge you to make your own PowerNotes.

Making notes is really simple. For me in the subject of Maths, I use lots of diagrams and short abbreviations to help me to understand the abstracts. Here are 6 Simple Tips for you to make Effective PowerNotes :

  1. Use Colors, 3 colors are good. Too many colors are distracting.
  2. Write in point forms to allow easy understanding.
  3. Keep it to a A4 page for each topic
  4. Write it out yourself.
  5. Continously update with new realization :)
  6. Use it for revision of tests & exams!!!

Enjoy your PowerNotes!

First of all, I have to apologised to all my dear readers of my recent MIA (Missing In Action) on this blog.

For those students in Singapore, I hope most of you have enjoyed your 1 week break,re-charge & ready for Term 2! It's going to be a short term with Mid Year Exams upcoming. Haha... I know I know it's mean to remind you all of the exams when the holidays aren't even over yet.

I was away from blogging on more Math Tips as I am focusing on my energy with a few students on subdue-ing the Top Rated Killer A-Math Topics : Logarithms & Trigonometry! It was really intensive for the 3 days but everything was worthwhile.

With the release of GCE O Level results, I received 2 phonecalls from parents whose children did not perform well asking me about how to go about registering as private candidate to retake the O Levels as well as if I could providing some coaching for their children so that they can do much better for this year O Levels.

So I thought I might as write about how to retake O Level as a private candidate. (:

As a private candidate, I would suggest you enroll in one of the private schools providing full time education for preparation of O Level examinations. These schools have their teaching systems structured to teach the subjects so that you are more readily prepared for your second chance.

Examination Entry Requirements

  • You may register as a private candidate if you satisfy the minimum age requirement of 15 on 1st January of the examination year.
  • Private candidates may enter up to a maximum of nine subjects.
  • Registration for exam is usually during March period every year. You may register online at SEAB site

These logistics matters should be well taken care by the private centres when you sign up with them.

Things to note as a private candidate

  • Be disciplined towards your learning. Ensure that you work hard and achieve your goals.
  • Treasure your 2nd chance.
  • Ensure that you are taking the correct syllabus since there are changes in syllabus recently. Check out the relevant syllabus here

Logarithm Equation Question 2 [Checking validity of answers in logarithms equations]

Solve the equation

\lg(3a+2)+ lg(5a-3)=1+ 2lg (a)

Ans : a = 1 or -6/5

Question : Do we need to include -6/5

Contributed by YC

It is important for you to check if your answers are valid i.e are there any answers you would need to reject?
This is what I called checking for validity of answers.
