# Be a Squaring Expert in 30 seconds!

What is $35^2$ equal to?

Can you give the answer in 5 seconds without calculator or paper?

### Ai Ling Ong

Hi, I'm Ai Ling Ong. I enjoy coaching students who have challenges with understanding and scoring in 'O' Level A-Maths and E-Maths. I develop Math strategies, sometimes ridiculous ideas to help students in understanding abstract concepts the fast and memorable way. I write this blog to share with you the stuff I teach in my class, the common mistakes my students made, the 'way' to think, analyze... If you have found this blog post useful, please share it with your friends. I will really appreciate it! :)

Thank you for sharing, it really help to speed me up. Does this apply to number not ending with 5?

This strategy works ONLY when you SQUARE numbers ending with '5'.

;)

12. Thanks for the powerpoint slideshow. But then , I've not been able to get it. Did try it severally, and had problem comprehending. Help me out pls.

Hi Gracious, the strategy works when you square number ending with '5' for example 65 * 65 = ? , 85 * 85 = ?
To do this, it's extremly easy,
#1: the answer will end with '25'
#2: take the first digit (6) x (multipy by) (1 more than 6 =7)
aka 6 * 7 = 42
:)
